Frequently Asked Questions
How does RunOrPay work?
You set a weekly running goal (number of runs, minimum distance, minimum duration) and choose a penalty amount. If you don't meet your goal by Sunday midnight, the penalty is charged to your selected destination — a charity, a friend, or held in escrow.
Can I change my commitment?
Yes. Go to Settings and tap your commitment details. Changes can apply starting next Monday (free) or immediately (a penalty may apply).
How do I quit?
Go to Settings and tap "Quit Commitment". You can quit for free after a 3-week waiting period, or quit immediately by paying an exit fee. Any outstanding debt must be paid first.
What happens to my penalty money?
- Charity: Donated to the charitable organization you selected.
- Friend: Sent to the person you designated.
- Escrow: Held temporarily. If you meet your next week's goal, the net amount is refunded.
Does the app track my runs automatically?
If you grant HealthKit access, runs from Apple Watch and other fitness apps are imported automatically. You can also use the built-in GPS run tracker.
How do I delete my data?
Use the "Quit Commitment" feature in Settings to reset all local data. Uninstalling the app removes all on-device data. For iCloud data, go to your device's Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage.
